The Sailing GPS has a water-resistant plastic housing with a rubber gasket and a pop-open lid over the mini-USB port.  It is designed to be used out at the helm.  It is not submersible though, so it comes in a bonus waterproof DryPak carrying bag with tie-downs.  Eco-friendly: no bulky retail packaging to throw away.

If it is raining, or there is a lot of water in the cockpit, or you want to leave The Sailing GPS outside at night, keep it in the DryPak.

In sailing dinghies that can heel and tip over, the waterproof DryPak bag provides a barrier from water, and the tie-down loops provide a handy way to mount the unit.  The Sailing GPS can be operated within the waterproof DryPak.
